About Brett’s Biltong
"Hi, I’m Brett - founder of Brett’s Biltong, and a proud South African living in Texas.
What started as a small kitchen project quickly became a mission: to bring the authentic taste of home to South Africans abroad and to share our unique flavors with new friends across America.
Every batch we make is crafted with care - premium beef, traditional spices, and generations of know-how.
It’s not just biltong; it’s a story of heritage, passion, and community. '
Brett didn’t learn biltong from a book - he learned it standing next to his dad, in a small kitchen back in Rhodesia. That’s where the basics stuck: do it properly or don’t bother.
When he eventually moved to Texas, he realized there was one thing he couldn’t find anywhere: real biltong. Not jerky. Not “biltong-style.” The actual thing. So he started making small batches at home — same cuts, same spices, same slow-drying method he grew up with.
Word got out fast. South Africans showed up for a taste of home. Texans showed up to see what the fuss was about. And just like that, the idea for Brett’s Biltong took shape.
"My love for South African food made me notice something important: people here in the U.S. were craving real flavor - something handcrafted, traditional, and made with care.I wanted to create products that were intentional, rooted in heritage, and true to the taste South Africans know and love."

Our biltong is made the way we’ve always done it back home - straightforward, no shortcuts, and full of proper South African flavor. We use good meat, the right spice, and the old-school drying method Brett learned from his dad.
Nothing complicated. Nothing fancy. Just biltong that tastes the way it’s meant to: clean, bold, and honest.

Fast forward to today: we’ve gone from small batches in a home kitchen to two locations in Texas, serving thousands of customers every year.
Our shelves now include biltong, droëwors, treats, sauces, spices, beverages, and our signature liqueurs - all chosen with one goal in mind: bring South Africa closer to home.
We’re incredibly grateful for every customer who walks through our doors, tries something new, or shares a piece of our culture.
